The dandelions are winning

Tarmac vs dandelions.

Dandelions can be used in imagery to represent change. The roots which grow in spring are collected by the elderly villagers for spring salads after a winter of ham and Beaufort cheese. Rich in vitamins they rejuvenate the body ready for the year ahead. The bright yellow flowers follow the violets in the alpine cow meadows and signal when the cows need to move up. The seeds which collect in the corners of stairs are used to tell the time by children. How many puffs of breath to get rid of all the seeds? Different from daisy petals which are used to figure out if he loves you.

There are all sorts of useful google facts.

*The only flower to represent three celestial bodies — sun, moon and stars

*Use as a diuretic.

*Dandelion from “dents de lion” or “lions’ teeth” due to their leaf shape

*I can remember dandelion and burdock drink as a child, not a fan.

Airport runways, fine hotels, garages by the bins all have these small reminders of their mortality. The applause of their construction is blown gently away, though it may take several breaths.

For coaching the dandelion can be used to think of a project or a change and its progress over time. If I thought of a new project I might be in the root stage, thinking that I had a good taproot in good soil and maybe it’s time to breakthrough. If this image has stones in the way, what are they, are they just small pebbles to be moved? Is it a boulder which needs a bigger adaption? Do you envisage your project as a seed dandelion head waiting for a gentle breeze to take it to other places?

How does your project or change relate to the environment around it? Is it breaking ground slowly or covering the fields?

Having fun with imagery to learn a little and figure it out.
